I don't think the following will be of interest to anybody but me.... but I'm saving these blurbs even as I pull them from my home page, as good notes and history and such. If we forget our past we are doomed to repeat it :)

Comparing this to what I did before, there are only a few things missing in this rev. I don't have newsfeeds just now and have decided to leave that feature out for now. I don't have a "Message Of The Day" title between the header and body. And I don't have a title for the blog. These things will just have to wait!

Kinda funny: so last summer I abandoned the original version of this layout because it didn't work well in Netscape 4. I used a watered-down version for a long time; it looked like crap but allowed me to get some chops together. Now, everything is based on CSS standards, and I have had to leave most of my NS4 concerns behind -- to achieve the same effect as if I'd just said "nuts to NS4" and never stopped using hugely nested tables, ha ha! In any case, I hope you agree this is better.

The oldest version of this project had a guestbook feature. I'll recode it, someday.

This was a bad detour from the path.
