Ignorance is bliss

For awhile now I've needed to get a handle on my server bandwidth usage. I pretty much know which of my clients use a lot of it, but now that I'm paying per gigabyte... it's good to actually know and not just have a hunch.

I've also had a hunch that there's a problem here with hotlinking. Sure enough, as fast as my frustration abates about getting a proper whole-system view of my log files, I'm finding tons of bandwidth thieves making me not happy. As I explained the problem today it occurred to me, it does cost me money to allow this to happen... but not near enough to actually do much about it. For sure I cannot afford to take it on a one-off basis.

Perhaps there's a system hack that won't cause any grief. Time to find out!
